Swampstar

$500.00

There’s something vulnerable about this form - fleshy, raw, almost wounded - and yet it pulses with life. A central opening draws the eye: is it a wound, a mouth, an orifice? It's hard to say. This piece is caught mid-becoming, beautiful and bizarre, like a creature suspended in the midst of transformation.

Fine strands of hair emerge from the surface - a quiet, playful detail that softens the intensity of the form. The hair feels strangely tender, almost loving, as if the sculpture is reaching out to be touched, seen, or known.

It’s unclear what stage of life this being is in, or whether it’s healing or unraveling - but its presence is unmistakable. It doesn’t ask to be explained. It simply asks to be felt.

Materials: Paper-maché, paper-mâché Clay, spray paint, epoxy resin, mica pigment, alcohol ink, flocking, synthetic hair and fur, monofilament illusion cord.

Dimensions: 5 in x 5 in x 5 in

Weight: 13 oz.

Your piece comes with everything needed for a simple ceiling installation:

– Monofilament illusion cord (clear): pre-cut length with more than enough to hang your piece at your desired height.
– 2 metal crimps: small compression sleeves used to create a secure loop with the cord — this is how I attach the cord to the ceiling hook. (Loop example shown — pliers or crimping tool required, not included.)
– 1 heavy-duty ceiling hook with wall anchor: ideal for more secure installs or heavier pieces (requires pre-drilling with a 6mm drill bit).
– 2 small screw-in ceiling hooks: simple, lightweight option — easily twist into drywall or wood by hand. These work just fine for me however I do not have children or pets at this time, so keep that in mind when choosing your hook.
– Display fiber: extra synthetic hair, for aesthetic enhancement if desired.

Note: I use an improved clinch knot (Fisherman’s knot) to tie the monofilament cord to the hook attached to the sculpture.
